Strange Bedfellows:

What the Church Must Learn from Survivors of the Sex Industry

The church has long preached about sexual sin while overlooking some of the voices of those most harmed by it. As a therapist who has walked alongside women in the sex trade, I’ve heard riveting stories the church cannot afford to ignore. This session reveals surprising lessons, first-hand accounts, and unexpected wisdom from the shadows—illuminating the hidden connections between childhood trauma, the porn and sex industry, and the church’s own entanglement in these realities. From these voices emerge a call to profound repentance, biblical truth, a testimony of distinction, and prophetic-edge solutions.

Therapist

Door of Hope Counseling

Andrea has been providing licensed mental health services since 2009. Over the years, she’s worked with a wide range of clients—from the homeless and sex industry workers to pastors, elders, and missionaries (and everyone in between). Her specialties include betrayal trauma recovery, sex addiction, sexual abuse recovery, and spiritual abuse recovery. In recent years, Andrea has stepped into public speaking, published writing, and podcasting. She’s also a homeschooling mother of four who loves hiking, gardening, and cooking (so long as her kids handle the dishes!) She thrives on deep conversations about politics, history, sociology, theology, and, of course, all things Tolkien, Hans Christian Andersen and Star Wars!
